May's Breath
of
Fresh
Air
from
Akasha.... |
|
Hi
<#Firstname#>,
Well at last we
have moved
house and are
settling into
our new
environment.
As I mentioned
last time, a
number of
people
commented on
how stressful a
house move can
be, but what
has struck me
more is the
aspect of
letting go –
which is the
focus for this
month’s Breath
of Fresh
Air.

previous issue,

Moving on
and
Letting
Go
Over the past
few years,
there have been
a spate of TV
programs where
the focus has
been on
de-cluttering,
usually so as
to create more
space in the
home.
The whole end
result has been
the feeling of
more
spaciousness,
both within
their
environment but
also within the
people
themselves.
Essentially,
the process has
meant them
reviewing and
getting rid of
possessions and
clutter that
have probably
not been looked
at or used for
years.
When I have
watched some of
these programs,
I have always
felt a twinge
of needing to
do it
myself….but I
was always too
busy.
Every now and
then, I’d have
a purge and
move some stuff
on or throw it
away, but the
bulk never
really got
addressed.
And then we
decided to
downsize which
meant that an
awful lot of
material
possessions
were going to
have to go and
some of them
had been in my
family for
several
generations.
What I began to
notice was how
attached I was
to
them. Sure,
some of them
were nice
pieces of
furniture but
others weren’t
that
great. So
what was
it?
Well one reason
was that I
didn’t want to
just throw them
away - but the
biggest reason
was
sentimental.
For example, my
kitchen larder
cabinet had at
one time
contained a
little drop
down
table.
This was where
I would sit on
my stool, and
eat my food
from about age
3
onwards. It
was
still attached
when I
inherited it
from my mother
in
1989.
Even though I
had removed the
table from the
cabinet, it had
memories – and
that of course
is the real
reason that we
tend to hold
onto
possessions.
It’s often why
we hold onto
relationships
too that are
maybe past
their sell by
date.
Memories and
nostalgia.
How many of you
like listening
to music that
was around in
your formative
years?
Very often if I
go to a party
with people of
my age group,
they will be
playing music
from the 60’s
and
70’s.
Why?…..because
it reminds them
of the good old
days.
Often the
conversation
goes to “Do you
remember
……..”
Now you may be
thinking,
“What’s wrong
with
that?”
Well nothing
really as long
as it doesn’t
stop you moving
on.
As long as it
doesn’t keep
you locked in
the
past.
In my work as a
psychotherapist,
I have seen so
many people
whose lives
don’t work
because they
are either
focused on what
happened in the
past or worried
to death about
the
future.
However, surely
all that really
matters is
NOW….this
present
moment.
I’m not
suggesting that
you don’t plan
ahead, take out
insurance or
whatever you
need to do
practically to
ensure the
future……..but
then let it go
and focus on
day by
day. The
same goes for
possessions.
How many things
are you hanging
onto because
you “can’t bear
to part with
it”?
Could it be
time to have a
good look at
the clutter
you’ve
accumulated and
decide to move
it
on?
Are you holding
onto to old
feelings that
are taking up
room in your
psyche?
Could it be
time to give
them a spring
clean
too?
What about
relationships?
Are
there one or
two that could
do with
reviewing?
All I know is
that having a
good old sort
out has made me
feel a lot
lighter.
I’m also
thinking very
hard before I
buy anything
else so that I
don’t replace
one lot of
clutter with
another.
And as for the
memories……of
course I still
have them – in
my mind and in
my
heart.

Following on
from the above,
we have decided
it’s time to
clean up our
database.
Naturally, we
hope that you
enjoy hearing
from us and
will want to
continue to
receive the
newsletter and
occasional
details of our
forthcoming
programs.
However, if
it’s no longer
of interest to
you or you are
just too time
stretched, then
could I ask
that you take a
moment now, to
scroll down to
the very bottom

and click on

Alternatively,
you can just
hit the reply

Of course, if
you still want

nothing (except
carry on

HOW'S
YOUR INNER
SPARKLE?
At our recent
Laughter Event,
a number of
people realised
just how
missing their
inner sparkle
was and wanted
to know how
they could
rekindle it
beyond the 3
hours we spent
together.
So I wanted to
let you know
that on the
22nd
to
24th
June 2007, we
will be
facilitating
our program
FIND
YOUR INNER
POWER
(together
with your
inner
sparkle and
joy)
This is a
residential
program that
starts on
the Friday
evening and
finishes
around
lunchtime on
Sunday.
Full details
and previous
attendee’s
comments can

(
I
am
very
aware
that
humour
is
subjective,
but
I
hope
this
makes
you
smile!)
A
guy
is
driving
around
and
he
sees
a
sign
in
front
a
house:
“Talking
Dog
for
Sale”.
He
rings
the
bell
and
the
owner
tells
him
the
dog
is
in
the
back
garden,
so
he
goes
to
the
garden
and
sees
a
Labrador
retriever
sitting
there.
“Do
you
talk?”
he
asks.
“Yep”,
the
dog
replies.
“So,
what’s
your
story?”
The
Labrador
looks
up
and
says:
“Well,
I
discovered
that
I
could
talk
when
I
was
pretty
young
and
I
wanted
to
help
the
government,
so
I
told
M15
about
my
gift,
and
in
no
time
at
all
they
had
me
jetting
from
country
to
country,
sitting
in
rooms
with
spies
and
world
leaders,
because
no-one
figured
a
dog
would
be
eavesdropping.
I
was
one
of
their
most
valuable
spies
for
eight
years
running.
But
the
jetting
around
really
tired
me
out,
and
I
knew
I
wasn’t
getting
any
younger
and I
wanted
to
settle
down.
I
signed
up
for
a
job
at
the
airport
to
do
some
undercover
security
work,
mostly
wandering
near
suspicious
characters
and
listening
in.
I
uncovered
some
incredible
dealings
and
was
awarded
a
few
medals.
I
got
married,
had
puppies,
and
now
I’m
just
retired”.
The
guy
is
amazed.
He
goes
back
in
and
asks
the
owner
how
much
he
wants
for
the
dog.
“£10”
“This
dog
is
amazing!
Why
on
earth
are
you
selling
him
so
cheap?”
“Because
he
a
liar……he
didn’t
do
ANY
of
what
he
told
you”

We decided
that each month
we would
include a few

because we know
the people
concerned and
think they are
great or we
were inspired
by the site and
wanted to share
it with you. By
the way, these

and no money is
received for
including
them.

This is one of
our favourite
local eateries
which has
awards for its
food (great
selection of
fresh fish and

now offers 3
beautifully
refurbished

are a wonderful
blend of the

contemporary
chic.
So if you are

I heard about
this UK site
when one of the
creators
contacted me
asking if I
still had
copies of my
confidence tape
that had helped
her enormously
but was now
worn
out.
I think it’s a
great concept
and has a mine
of information
for…..mums!
Even better is
that you can
check out
what’s
happening in
your particular
area.
(Not every area
is represented
at the

it’s expanding
by the month,
so I suggest
adding it to
